Lots of the cards we looked at here arent in Modern because theyre either banned like Birthing Pod or simply arent legal like Worldly Tutor

It ETBs with energy, sure, but it can convert energy to creatures without tapping, which, of course, means you can generate infinite tokens pretty easily with the other cards here

Start out with Armix after dropping cheap protection in the form of Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots or (my favorite) Welding Jar

Its great in a deck with +1/+1 counters to spare, but dont rely on its training ability alone to get those counters (speaking towards EDH, at least)

Mysidian Elder Rating: 4/10 These black mage tokens are going to be very valuable in the black/red deck, and Mysidian Elder is a pretty decent way to get one

Like in a normal draft, you want to draft intrinsically powerful cards that demand an answer from your opponent and cards that will answer your opponents' cards
