The cap will twist and the lead will propel from the nose cone and turning the opposite way will retract the lead back inside

the Star Clips did not officially mean pens that had a lifetime warranty)

There is some minor gold plating wear to the nib (as seen in the photos)

This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition. Collector Alert: The barrel is water clear and in Mint condition. After taking this pen apart, I never saw any ink on the nib, inside the barrel, or inside the cap. I don't think it has ever been inked
