I think it muddled the way forward for Wizards as theme, and the backdoor strategy of making sure players who werent into the creature type theme a deck hampered what this could have been
Semesters End Blinking an entire board of creatures at instant speed with Semester's End saves them all from a board wipe, makes them bigger, and retriggers all their powerful enter abilities
As a baseline, a substantially larger portion of the category can sacrifice themselves to draw cards or can be cycled away, meaning when you find the card late, its not a dead draw
Universes Beyond sets have already been confirmed to have higher price points than normal products, and that could very well carry over to Secret Lairs
Rather than counter one of the many problem cards such as a haste creature or an equipment that is frequently cast pre-combat you are likely just going to be better off partially negating the spells effect along with the other creatures by using the tap effect and digging for a real answer for everything with the draw option
