The biggest risk is that the fast mana it gives would power up combos too much, and while it's probably safest to have Chrome Mox banned, it does seem strange to see it on the banned list after watching Affinity play Mox Opal on Turn 1 and dump literally their entire hand onto the battlefield
However, I do like Shapers Sanctuary against stuff like Izzet Phoenix, if only because their easiest way to contain your creatures is their bevy of spot removal

This is particularly wise if youre playing a color like green or red, which often struggle to remove creatures

Though many of the variants of this card sell for $40+, there is a cheaper alternative that you can find for around $4 if you really want to use it in your deck
