The AI has a chance to not do anything on their turn, and supporters don't exist yet which means human players can take advantage of the card drawing and searching trainers in a way the AI simply can't replicate
Perhaps the developers relied on dropping a land every turn, fueled by Zedruu and while I appreciate a Commander deck design that focuses heavily on its Commander, I have found sometimes you wont have him in play early or for very long, especially if your opponents are overly paranoid about receiving Zedruu gifts
