The trick for control is that it both has to be able to survive against the linear aggro decks while not automatically dying to their opponents combos
You could make a pretty standard +1/+1 counter deck, or go the opposite route with -1/-1 counters

A 4-mana 3/3 with Menace isnt amazing -- it is probably a 2.0 at best -- however -- this brings a blood token along with it, and I think Id already be playing that card a reasonable chunk of the time, but it also has the impressive upside of making itself into a 5/5 when it attacks, provided you have blood
