Why its helpful In Lorcana, a character usually cannot challenge an opponent on the same turn they are played
Knowing what that card is becomes part of the information you have access to, just like you can look at the cards in your hand
The shape indicates which set, or edition, that particular card was printed in, and the color indicates the rarity , as follows: Cards printed before the Exodus set in 1998 did not use colored symbols to show rarity, and many of these cards have no set symbol at all
You can pick up a copy of Lorcana: Gateway directly from Ravensburger, from Amazon, your local big-box store, or from your Friendly Local Game Store (they can tell you all about collectible card games!)
While the first set included more, that was likely just to give players a wider variety as the game was getting off the ground
