Nightshade Nikolaos Schizas In a play on theFor Russinof, everything begins with color. She begins a painting by applying color in lyrical, gestural marks. The marks coalesce into a structure, a loose grid. She works with oil and her application of layers is wet on wet which can require a certain amount of speed. Anne Russinof is inspired by things she sees: a visceral reaction to manifest a feeling physically through paint. That initial visual stimulus is often related to color.
