until I came up with the majority of the weight  close to the mouthpiece

( if the D-ring is to heavy and it bounces as they are loping around it creates a sore spot and THAT'S A BAD thing

Anytime we make the shank longer we lose lateral, signal, but sometimes leverage is more important than lateral. My favorite mouthpiece for a wide variety of horses. The softest port in my opinion because it features a 1 2" bar with a very long transition from the port to the bar. Offers a cricket for anxiety relief. Not tall enough to make contact
