It has a jointed mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is stamped "J. H" and has a broad ordnance arrow, indicating military use. It is also stamped "Williams" and "Salop", this was possibly the B. Williams who had a shop on Shrewsbury High Street around 1900. There is a steel pulley attached to each bit ring this would connect the reins directly to the cheek
