My favorite is "block parties." One of the block parties in Magic: The Gathering FINAL FANTASY is based around the new "Town" land type

These are features of the card that give you extra things you can do with them, or change the rules of the game in some capacity

It's also close to a one-sided wipe in a very popular archetype, though obviously if any of your foes bring +1/+1 counters too, its strength goes down significantly
