Turning your lands into creatures has several uses, including combos with Village Bell-RingerVillage Bell-Ringer, and a backup plan in Ramp decks like Radha, Heart of KeldRadha, Heart of Keld

Its certainly a chaos card by nature, but as one of the best Polymorph effects in Magic its chief function is to be broad and efficient removal with a wildly inconsistent drawback
