I playtested it and my board on T3 looks like this (first try btw): 6x Forest (one of which became a 3/3 creature) Exploration (conveniently played T1), Vernal Bloom (conveniently played T2), Nissa, Who Shakes the World Marwyn, the Nurturer with 3 +1/+1 counters, Llanowar Tribe, Elvish Archdruid, Priest of Titania One Forest in hand
You can either play them in your 99 (if they fit in your commanders color identity, of course), or you can play a background as a second commander
But they're safe from removal, coming back into play as their regular non-creature-y selves
A handful of the Amethyst cards still get played in the game's top decks, but there's not much else to work with once you're ready to build a custom deck of your own
Clarabelle Contented Wallflower might not be perfect, but she will draw fairly consistently
Why would having two complex mechanics make things any better
