Netting that sweet counter rather than a temporary bump is nasty good

Although you can sacrifice lands by using its activated ability, its best to play it with cards that naturally do that, like fetch lands, or cards like Zuran Orb that allow you to sac multiple lands

These represent a VERY small sample of what is out there though
