So I'd smile to hide my pain and anger

I was always taught as a kid that the "F" word was the worst thing in the world

in my backyard at 38 years old

I always felt like the church taught me to despise myself because I was guilty & bad for merely existing

they always turned it back around and blamed me for my lack of healing- telling me there was something wrong within me blocking my healing

Obedient VS Free (16x20 Original) So I'd smile to hideMy abusers told me not to tell of their abuse towards me. Being a child, I believed I was supposed to obey adults. But eventually I got tired of being abused, chose myself, and told about what they did to me. I found freedom when I stopped being obedient and chose me instead.
