Uccelliera, Rapace [Sangio/Merlot/Cab], 2022 CHAMPCOUNT2026 The oak aging adds layersFrom Andrea Cortonesi's Uccelliera estate in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, founded in 1986. Rapace is a Super Tuscan blend of 70% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes come from vineyards at 150 350 meters elevation on calcareous clayey soils southeast of Montalcino. Production is approximately 800 cases annually. The wine ages minimum 18 months in small French oak barrels, plus 6 months in bottle before release.
