Distinguished Service Medal GV Campaign_Navy GSM 1915-64 Java and SumatraInstituted on 14th October 1914 for award to Petty Officers and ratings of the Royal Navy, NCO's and other ranks of the Royal Marines and all other personnel holding corresponding ranks in the naval forces. The first world war saw 4100 awards made, bars for this period have the date of award engraved on the reverse.
